At Queen’s Scientista, we strive to empower and connect women in the STEMM fields. However, we aren’t the only club on campus that connect women in various fields; there are several amazing clubs and groups at Queen’s that do just that. Today, we’re highlighting five of the many amazing groups on campus that, like Scientista, aim to support undergraduate and graduate women at Queen’s.
Queen’s Women in Computing
Queen’s Women in Computing, or QWIC, is a group on campus that supports and connects women in computing at Queen’s. They encourage women in computing to explore different opportunities available to them in technology and similar fields. The group hosts a variety of events throughout the year such as panels, technical bootcamps, resume workshops, networking events, and so much more. In this male-dominated field, QWIC seeks to bridge the gender gap and encourage young women to get involved in tech.

Queen’s Women in Leadership
Also known as QWIL, this group works to empower the young female leaders of today. Every year, they bring students together at the Queen’s Women in Leadership conference, where young women are encouraged to pursue success and leadership. The conference features panels, industry workshops, networking, and even a case competition! With delegates coming from many different fields and backgrounds, QWIL is a place for innovation, inspiration, and connection.

These are just some of the many groups on campus that seek to encourage and empower young women in various fields. However, this is by no means an exhaustive list. We encourage you to seek out the resources and groups at Queen’s that are relevant to you. And if none of the clubs at Queen’s resonate with you, why not start your own? After all, if there’s one thing this list has proven, it’s that Queen’s women are determined to take their empowerment into their own hands.
