ABOUT US
who we are
The Scientista Foundation began at Harvard University in 2011 with two sisters, Julia and Christina Tartaglia, to address the lack of resources, community, and role models for college and university women in science and engineering. The launching of ScientistaFoundation.com, a platform and national network that addresses the needs of pre-professional women in STEMM, expanded the foundation to many college and university campuses within the United States.

Queen's Scientista is the first Canadian chapter of the Scientista Foundation, aiming to provide resources, empowerment, and inspiration for women pursuing science, technology, engineering, math, and medicine (STEMM) at Queen's University. With an ever-growing team of powerful members, we hope to bring the dream of the original Scientista founders to life.
Queen’s Scientista is committed to promoting the advancement of undergraduate and graduate self-identifying women in STEMM on Queen's University’s campus through ongoing events such as our annual conference, speaker series, and podcast, as well as by connecting them to a larger network of women in their fields. As your 2020-2021 Co-Directors, we pledge to uphold Queen’s Scientista’s mission through taking and finding innovative ways for the club to grow. Alongside our team, we will be working diligently to provide you with the resources and support necessary to succeed in your current and future endeavours. We are thrilled to continue to build the Scientista community and engage with self-identifying women in STEMM at national and international levels this academic year.
